{"id":10277,"date":"2018-08-06T17:37:42","date_gmt":"2018-08-06T17:37:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kumasionlinegh.com\/?p=10277"},"modified":"2018-08-06T17:37:42","modified_gmt":"2018-08-06T17:37:42","slug":"former-cdd-boss-endorses-jean-mensas-appointment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kumasionlinetv.com\/?p=10277","title":{"rendered":"Former CDD boss endorses Jean Mensa\u2019s appointment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Governance Analyst, Professor Gyimah Boadu has endorsed the appointment of Jean Mensah as the new Chairperson of the Electoral Commission.<\/p>\n<p>Professor Gyimah Boadu, the former Executive Director of the Centre for Democratic Development (CDD) said Jean Mensa who has worked in civil society for years has the managerial and technical skills to be an effective head of the Electoral Commission.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the 20th-anniversary celebration of the Centre for Democratic Development (CDD), Professor Gyimah Boadu was confident \u00a0Jean Mensah will deliver in her new role.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cwhat matters is, what that person does when they get to the job, whether they have carried some of the technical skills and management skills that they learned, working in civil society, over to their new terrain that will be much fairer to judge Jean Mensa I think,\u201d he said<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Z7e2kHh1J6M\" width=\"654\" height=\"480\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The new Chairperson of the<a href=\"https:\/\/citinewsroom.com\/2018\/08\/02\/well-build-a-dependable-ec-jean-mensa\/\"><strong>\u00a0Electoral Commission<\/strong><\/a>, Jean Mensa, has promised to work with all stakeholders in politics, judiciary, and civil society to uphold the sovereignty of the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will work with the parliament, the political parties and the judiciary, civil society and the media to build an electoral commission that this nation can depend on. Mr. President, we wish to assure all Ghanaians that we will hold ourselves accountable to the laws of Ghana,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), has said it will not back down on its opposition to the appointment of Jean Adukwei Mensa as the new chairperson of the Electoral Commission.<\/p>\n<p>National Organizer of the NDC, Kofi Adams told\u00a0Citi News the party would continue to point out the flaws in the process of the appointment of\u00a0 Jean Mensa.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEverything is wrong about the nomination, the council of state approval of it and the swearing-in. As NDC and as a political party we will continue to rise to everything that is wrong about this process.
