A group calling itself the Concerned Voters Movement\u00a0\u00a0 (CVM) has observed that former President John Dramani Mahama will be discredited in the party if he fails to poll 95% of total votes cast at the presidential primary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).<\/p>\n
Mr Mahama is yet to officially declare his intentions to contest as the flagbearer of the umbrella family ahead of the 2020 polls despite the emergence of some candidates within the party.<\/p>\n
So far Professor Joshua Alabi, Mr. Sylvester Mensah, Mr. Alban Bagbin and Dr. Ekow Spio Garbrah have all announced their intentions to contest the presidential candidacy of the opposition NDC including Mr. Stephen Atubiga, bringing the total number of interested persons to 5.<\/p>\n
But giving an analysis of the strength of Mr Mahama, Razak Kojo Opoku who is the founder of CVM said he stands a pole chance of emerging victorious should he contest but must receive an overwhelming majority.<\/p>\n

In August 2012, John Mahama as sitting President received an overwhelming endorsement of 99.5% to lead the NDC in the 2012 National Presidential Election but managed to garner 50.7% of the national votes characterized by fraud and irregularities which was subsequently challenged at the Supreme Court.<\/p>\n
In November 2015, John Mahama again as sitting President received endorsement of 95.1% to lead the NDC in the 2016 National Presidential Election but managed to garner 44.4% of the national votes.<\/p>\n
All instances(2012 & 2015), John Mahama went unopposed in the NDC Presidential Primaries.<\/p>\n
2018 Presidential Primaries will be the first time in the history of NDC that John Mahama is facing a stiff competition from prominent gurus of the Party such as Bagbin, Alabi, Spio and Sylvester.<\/p>\n
For NDC internal Presidential Election:<\/p>\n
(a).2012\u2013John Unopposed\u201499.5%<\/p>\n
(b). 2015\u2014John Mahama Unopposed\u201495.1%<\/p>\n
(c). 2018\u2014-John Mahama competing with others\u2013 85% according to Okudzeto Ablakwa.<\/p>\n
Therefore, going by Hon. Okudzeto Ablawka 85% prediction for John Mahama in NDC\u2019s 2018 Presidential Primaries, it is very likely that John Mahama shall garner 37.1% in the 2020 National Presidential Election.<\/p>\n
