Former President and Founder of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Flt. Lt. Jerry John Rawlings, has urged delegates participating in the party\u2019s regional elections this weekend to elect committed executives who will serve the interest of the party.<\/p>\n
\u201cDelegates from all 275 constituencies will assemble at various designated centers to perform a very important democratic function on behalf of party constituents this weekend. The outcome of these conferences will go a long way in determining the future direction of the party.<\/p>\n
\u201cTo ensure the consolidation and re-invigoration of our party, I urge delegates to listen to their constituents and elect persons with integrity who genuinely have the party at heart,\u201d the former President said.<\/p>\n
The party is expected to elect regional executives on Saturday, 30th August, 2018.<\/p>\n
The former President indicated that since the \u201cmonetization of our internal selection process has adversely affected the fortunes of the party\u201d it is imperative that delegates \u201cresist the influence of money and material inducements from those who are more interested in themselves and their selfish interests than in building a strong and effective party.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThe rank and file must take the destiny of the party into their own hands and reject those whose conduct and lack of genuine commitment have contributed to the weakening of the party,\u201d said Mr. Rawlings.<\/p>\n
Mr. Rawlings also reminded delegates to elect those who \u201crespect the essence of team work and who are principled, truthful and sincere.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cLet us establish through the outcome of our regional elections, that we have learned from our recent past. My best wishes to all our candidates and delegates,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
