Barely a week after it was announced that a memorandum of understanding had been signed between Ghana and German firm,\u00a0 Volkswagen, to set up a car assembly plant in Ghana, President Akufo-Addo has revealed that meetings have been held during his state visit to China to get another multi-national company to set up their Africa operations headquarters in Ghana.<\/p>\n

President Akufo-Addo, who is currently in China, met on Monday with Chinese business mogul, Jack Ma on the possibility of his company setting up the African headquarters of the Alibaba Group in Ghana.<\/p>\n

President Akufo-Addo revealed that that the Alibaba Group, of which Mr. Jack Ma is the co-founder and Executive Chairman, has plans to partner African countries and to help nurture technological savvy talents in the sub-region hence the decision to ask him to set up the company\u2019s Africa headquarters in Ghana.<\/p>\n

Yesterday, I held a meeting with the co-founder and Exec. Chairman of Alibaba Group, Mr. Jack Ma. I urged him to consider establishing the headquarters of Alibaba\u2019s Africa operations in Ghana as Alibaba Group looks to partner countries in Africa and help nurture tech talents.<\/p>\n
