China\u2019s leading cloud computing company, which also happens to be the no. 2 company in China\u2019s Information Technology industry, Inspur Group Co. Ltd, has chosen Ghana as its preferred destination in West Africa for the establishment of its regional headquarters.<\/p>\n

According to Mr. Peter Sun, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Inspur Group, the decision by the company to establish its headquarters in Ghana was borne out of the country\u2019s peaceful and stable nature, coupled with an impressive economic outlook, which saw Ghana grow at 8.5% in 2017, up from 3.6% in 2016.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The Inspur CEO made this known on Wednesday, 5th<\/sup>\u00a0September 2018, when his company paid a courtesy call on the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, on the sidelines of the Ghana-Shangdong Business Conference, which was held in Jinan, Shangdong Province.<\/p>\n

Inspur, currently has a 57% share of global sales in the Artificial Intelligence server field, and is the fastest growing server vendor in the world, and holds the biggest market share for the sale of servers in China.<\/p>\n

In addition to establishing its regional headquarters in Ghana, Mr. Peter Sun, indicated further that ten (10) Ghanaian students will be selected and offered internship programmes with the company, with these ten students being trained to take up jobs in the company\u2019s operations in Ghana and West Africa.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Again, the Inspur CEO indicated the company will invite to China, every year, thirty (30) officials from the Ministries, Departments and Agencies, to be trained in the fields of cloud computing and data technology.<\/p>\n

Mr. Peter Sun also indicated the readiness of the company to assist Ghana in the fields of revenue mobilization and green development, \u201ca real estate development concept that carefully considers social and environmental impacts of development.\u201d<\/p>\n

On his part, President Akufo-Addo noted \u201cthe matters you are interested in, i.e. green development, mobilization of tax revenues, and the establishment of your West African Headquarters in Ghana are important matters for us. It will be very good for our country to be involved with major global companies like yours, as it will expose us to the best practices in the industry.\u201d<\/p>\n

The President described Inspur\u2019s choice as an excellent one, because \u201cGhana is a stable country, our economy is picking up very rapidly, and so it is a good base not just for Ghana but also for West Africa.\u201d<\/p>\n

President Akufo-Addo assured the company of the safety of their investment in Ghana, stressing that \u201cwe encourage foreign investment in our country. So, as a base for doing business in West Africa, Ghana is ideal, and it will be a win-win situation for us all.\u201d<\/p>\n

Chinese firm to establish truck assembly plant in Ghana<\/p>\n

Sinotruk International, China\u2019s first heavy-duty truck manufacturer, has signed an agreement with the Government of Ghana to establish an assembly plant in Ghana, to serve both Ghanaian and West African markets.<\/p>\n

This was after the Ministry of Trade and Industry, on behalf of the Government of Ghana, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Sinotruk International on Wednesday, 5th September, 2018, at the Ghana-Shangdong Business Conference, for the establishment of the plant.<\/p>\n

Nana Addo lobbies for Alibaba Africa headquarters in Ghana<\/strong><\/p>\n

President Akufo-Addo, who is currently in China, met on Monday with Chinese business mogul, Jack Ma on the possibility of his company setting up the African headquarters of the\u00a0Alibaba Group in Ghana<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The President revealed that that the Alibaba Group, of which Mr. Jack Ma is the co-founder and Executive Chairman, has plans to partner African countries and to help nurture technological savvy talents in the sub-region hence the decision to ask him to set up the company\u2019s Africa headquarters in Ghana.<\/p>\n

Ghana, China sign eight co-operation agreements, MoUs<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ghana and China have signed eight (8) Co-operation Agreements and Memoranda of Understanding, in different sectors of their respective economies, aimed at deepening the ties of co-operation and the bonds of friendship that exist between the two countries.<\/p>\n

The agreements were signed on Saturday, 1st September, 2018, after the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, and the President of the People\u2019s Republic of China, His Excellency Mr. Xi Jinping, held bilateral talks, as part of President Akufo-Addo\u2019s State Visit to China.<\/p>\n

The agreements are the \u201cOne belt one road Memorandum of Understanding\u201d, \u201cMemorandum on Regional Aviation Co-operation\u201d, \u201cAgreement for Co-operation in the peaceful use of nuclear energy\u201d, and \u201cCo-operation to carry out Maternal and Child Health Project\u201d.<\/p>\n

The rest are \u201cFramework Agreement on Financing Insurance Co-operation\u201d ($2 billion Sino-Hydro deal), \u201cEconomic co-operation on Phase 2 project of the University of Health and Allied Sciences, Ho\u201d, \u201cCo-operation on the expansion of the Cape Coast Stadium\u201d, and \u201cCo-operation on the supply of police vehicles to the Ghana Police Service.<\/p>\n
