Former Supreme Court judge Vincent Cyril Richard Arthur Charles Crabbe, has died aged 95.<\/p>\n
The renowned judge also known as VCRAC Crabbe, is reported to have died Friday morning after a short illness.<\/p>\n
V.C.R.A.C. Crabbe was Special Commissioner to the 1968 Constitutional Commission; Legislative Draftsmen to the 1969 Constituent Assembly which drafted the 1969 Constitution of Ghana.<\/p>\n
He was the Chairman of the 1979 Constituent Assembly and drafted the 1979 Constitution of Ghana.<\/p>\n
Profile<\/strong><\/p>\n He was born on 29 October 1923 at Ussher town in Accra, Gold Coast, and was educated at the Government Junior and Senior Boys Schools in Accra.<\/p>\n VCRAC Crabbe is an old boy of Accra Academy\u00a0where he sat for the Cambridge Junior and Senior School Certificates<\/p>\n He further went to London to study\u00a0Economics\u00a0at the\u00a0City of London College\u00a0Moorgate, London 1950-1952.<\/p>\n In August 1952, he was admitted to the\u00a0Honourable Society of the Inner Temple\u00a0to read\u00a0law\u00a0.<\/p>\n He completed the normal three-year course in two years and was called to the Bar on the 8th February, 1955 having being granted a dispensation.<\/p>\n The same year he was enrolled as a member of the\u00a0Gold Coast\u00a0Bar, in order to maintain his Seniority at the Bar.<\/p>\n He progressed from\u00a0Assistant Crown Counsel\u00a0to\u00a0Parliamentary Counsel, the first\u00a0African\u00a0to be appointed as such, and ended up as a Senior Instructor at the International Law Development Centre in\u00a0Rome,\u00a0Italy.<\/p>\n In between, he held the post of First Parliamentary Counsel and Constitutional Adviser to the\u00a0Uganda\u00a0Government, Director of the\u00a0Commonwealth Secretariat Scheme\u00a0for Legislative draftsmen for the West African Region, Southern Africa Region, the Caribbean Region, and a Professor of Legislative drafting at the Cave Hill Campus,\u00a0Barbados,\u00a0University of West Indies.<\/p>\n He worked with the Constitutional Review Commission of Kenya, and was Leader of the group of Draftspersons who drafted the Kenya Constitution.<\/p>\n He did work with the Zambian Constitutional Commission for the drafting of the Zambian Constitution, as well with the Fiajoe Review Commission for the review of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana.<\/p>\n He also worked with Justice P.N.
