We will not be forced by these external shocks into taking politically expedient but economically unsustainable decisions. We know we are on the right track and we are going to stay the course because we have to look at the long-term interest of Ghana and not the short-term political expediency,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Economic shock<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Ghanaian economy has experienced some shocks in recent weeks following the depreciation of the cedi against major trading currencies especially the US dollar.<\/p>\n<p>This has led to hikes in prices of products in the country including fuel leading to intense pressure on government to sit up and save the cedi.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Bz-5GJWpqHg\" width=\"654\" height=\"480\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><br \/>\n<strong>Economy is in good hands; we\u2019re steering it well \u2013 Bawumia<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Dr.\u00a0Bawumia had earlier said the economy is in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/citinewsroom.com\/2018\/09\/19\/economy-is-in-good-hands-were-steering-it-well-bawumia\/\"><strong>good hands<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0and is being steered in the right direction for growth.<\/p>\n<p>He thus advised Ghanaians to ignore naysayers who believe the economy is on a downward trend instead.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBe reassured that this economy is in good hands. We are not where we want to be, but we believe that we are on course.
