Round 3 of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers saw some of Africa\u2019s heavy weights recording some resounding victories while minnows such as Madagascar recorded surprising results.<\/p>\n
In Group A,<\/strong>\u00a0Senegal recorded a\u00a03-0 win over Sudan<\/strong>\u00a0at the Stade L\u00e9opold S\u00e9dar Senghor in Dakar on Saturday. Algeria<\/strong>\u00a0dispatched\u00a0Benin<\/strong>\u00a02-0 to move top of the group with 7 points, followed by Benin in second with 4.<\/p>\n South Africa and Nigeria set Group E<\/strong>\u00a0alive with 10 goals between them in their heavy victories. South Africa mauled Seychelles 6-0 at home while an Odion Ighalo hattrick inspired\u00a0Nigeria to a 4-0<\/strong>\u00a0drubbing of Libya. The Bafana Bafana lead the group with 7 points, followed by Nigeria with 6.<\/p>\n Kenya went top of Group F<\/strong>\u00a0with a resounding 3-0 win over Ethiopia in Nairobi, having drawn 0-0 with them in the reverse encounter on Thursday.\u00a0With the Ghana\u2019s double header against Sierra Leone cancelled,<\/strong>\u00a0Kenya move top with 7 points, followed by Ethiopia with 4 and the Black Stars slip down to 3rd with 3 points.<\/p>\n Zimbabwe are riding high in Group G<\/strong>\u00a0following their impressive 1-2 win away to\u00a0DR Congo<\/strong>. The win takes them above the Congolese to 7 points while DR. Congo remain 2nd with 4, leveled with\u00a0Congo Brazzaville who beat Liberia 3-1<\/strong>\u00a0on Thursday with Liberia President and former captain George Weah watching on.<\/p>\n Guinea have maximum points in Group H<\/strong>\u00a0with a 2-0 win over\u00a0Rwanda<\/strong>.\u00a0Geoffrey Kondogbia\u2019s<\/strong>competitive debut for the\u00a0Central African Republic<\/strong>\u00a0ended in misery as\u00a0Cote d\u2019Ivoire<\/strong>\u00a0hammered them 4-0 with Manchester United defender Eric Bailly scoring his first goal for his country in the process. The Elephants are in second place with 6 points, 3 behind Guinea.<\/p>\n Angola, Burkina Faso and Mauritania all have 6 points in Group I<\/strong>\u00a0after Angola beat Mauritania 4-1 at home and Burkina Faso beat Botswana 3-0.<\/p>\n Tunisia have maximum 9 points in Group J<\/strong>\u00a0after their 1-0 win over\u00a0Niger<\/strong>.\u00a0Egypt<\/strong>\u00a0are right on their tails with 6 points following their 4-1 demolishing of\u00a0eSwatini<\/strong>\u00a0(formerly Swaziland). Reigning African Footballer of Year Mohammed Salah scored the Pharaoh\u2019s 4th goal straight from a corner kick.<\/p>\n In Group K, 2012 champions Zambia<\/strong>\u00a0have dropped to the bottom of the group after they beat\u00a0Guinea Bissau 2-1<\/strong>\u00a0on Thursday before losing the reverse by the same scoreline on Sunday.<\/p>\n Guinea Bissau go top of the group with 7 points, while\u00a0Namibia\u2019s bold 2-1 win away to Mozambique<\/strong>\u00a0has moved them up to 2nd on the table though they have the same points as their opponents as well as Zambia.<\/p>\n Uganda are top of Group L<\/strong>\u00a0with 7 points after they thumped\u00a0Lesotho 3-0.<\/strong>\u00a0Cape Verde<\/strong>\u00a0moved up to second with 4 points by beating\u00a0Tanzania<\/strong>\u00a0with the same scoreline.
