\u201cHard work\u201d is the key to his 19-year marriage, David Beckham has admitted.<\/p>\n
He has \u201cgrown to ignore some of the negative stuff\u201d that is said about him and wife Victoria, he told Australian TV show The Sunday Project.<\/p>\n
The pair are \u201cproud of the family\u201d and teach their four children \u2013 Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz and Harper \u2013 the importance of hard work, he added.<\/p>\n
Beckham spoke to the programme before joining the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in Australia for the Invictus Games.<\/p>\n \u201cI think if you know each other well, if you know you\u2019ve got great friends and great family behind you, the thing we have to do is protect our children and we are very proud of the family,\u201d he said on the show.<\/p>\n \u201cWe are hard working and we feel that is the right way to bring up our children to prove and to show to them you have to work really hard to be successful,\u201d he went on.<\/p>\n The retired footballer also touched on a recent Vogue front cover image of the Beckham clan \u2013 which he was absent from.<\/p>\n \u201cDifficult situations\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n He explained that the cover was \u201call about Victoria\u2019s 10 years in fashion\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cThe amount she has achieved in such a short space of time \u2013 four beautiful young children, we have a beautiful dog \u2013 but obviously in her business world to be on the front cover of Vogue was a huge thing and then we did a separate picture for another cover,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n \u201cBut to be married for the amount of time that we have, it\u2019s always hard work, everybody knows that but you make it work.<\/p>\n \u201cYou make difficult situations like travelling away, being away from each other, you make it work.\u201d<\/p>\n Looking ahead to his attendance at the Invictus Games for wounded service personnel, he commented: \u201cWith Harry, to have come up with something that changes people\u2019s lives is incredible and I\u2019m going over as an ambassador of the games but I\u2019m really going over as a fan.\u201d<\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" \u201cHard work\u201d is the key to his 19-year marriage, David Beckham has admitted.
