A group calling itself the Concerned Citizens of Asawase in the Asokore Mampong Municipal Assembly, \u00a0Yakubu Askandar is calling for the head of the Ashanti Regional Police Commander DCOP Kwasi Duku Mensah following the killing of a gang of 7 at Manso Nkwanta in the Amansie West District.<\/strong><\/p>\n

It would be recalled that the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, \u00a0DCOP Kwasi Duku Mensah after the incident at a press conference revealed the circumstances that led to the shooting of seven suspected armed robbers at Ayirebikrom near Manso Nkwanta on July 13, 2018.<\/p>\n

According to him, the seven out of eight suspected robbers were gunned down in the process of trading bullets with the Police in the Region.<\/p>\n

He said, \u201cWe exchanged gunfire with the seven deceased at Manso Nkwanta when the police signaled to stop; they refused and started firing at the police and the police return fire that led to their death.\u201d<\/p>\n

The seven-member government committee that investigated the incident has revealed that there\u2019s no evidence to suggest that the seven persons who were shot and killed by a Police patrol team at Manso Nkwanta in the Ashanti Region, were armed robbers, and that they indeed exchanged fire with the police.<\/p>\n

Yakubu Askandar speaking to MyNewGh.com said interdicting police officers over the killing of the gang of 7 is not enough.<\/p>\n

He wants the Ashanti Regional Police Commander DCOP Kwesi Mensah Duku to also be interdicted or fired for lying to the public.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Ashanti Regional Police Commander DCOP Kwasi Mensah Duku told the whole world that our brothers were armed robbers. So they killed armed robbers. Now the Committee report is saying our brothers were innocent. That shows the incompetency of the regional police commander. He should be fired\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Yakubu Askandar has threatened to take legal action against the Ashanti Regional Police Commander DCOP Kwasi Mensah Duku.<\/p>\n
