Dr Dominic Obeng-Andoh<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The Medical and Dental Council, has once again warned the public against seeking medical services at the Advanced Body Sculpt Centre, also known as the Obengfo Hospital.<\/p>\n

The hospital located iat Weija in Accra, made headlines, after its Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Obeng Andoh, was arrested, following the death of the Deputy Director of the National Entrepreneurship Innovation Programme,\u00a0Stacy Offei Darko<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0at his facility.<\/p>\n

Dr. Obeng-Andoh was arrested and put before court for allegedly practicing without a license and operating an unlicensed health facility without lawful authority.<\/p>\n

He has pleaded not guilty and is\u00a0on bail<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

He had earlier asked the court to throw out the case against him but\u00a0his request was turned down<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

In a\u00a0Citi News\u00a0Interview, the Registrar and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Medical and Dental Council,\u00a0Dr.\u00a0Eli Atikpui, insisted that Dr. Obeng-Andoh, has no valid registration to practice medicine in\u00a0Ghana.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think about two or three months ago, the Medical and Dental Council held a press briefing and cataloged issues that the Council had had with Dr. Dominic Obeng-Andoh and his continuous practicing of medicine. So we realized that yes, there were issues that were coming up. His place was locked up on three occasions, and without due process he had reopened. And we learnt and confirmed that he had reopened the place and was practicing.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are taking the necessary steps as was previously done to get the place locked up again, but before then, the public should be notified that before due process is completed, that institution was previously closed down on three occasions and on his own volition had reopened and was working. So we want to draw the public\u2019s attention to the fact that Dr. Dominic Obeng-Andoh does not have a valid registration to hold himself up or practice medicine in Ghana,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

The Council in a newspaper publication also warned the public that anyone who visits the hospital does so at their \u201cown risk.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe public is advised that you seek health care from Dr. Dominic Obeng-Andoh at your own risk.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dr. Obengfo has admitted on several occasions that he had a brief training outside the country for the service he offers.<\/p>\n

There have been stories of Ghanaians who have reported deformities on their bodies after visiting the facility for the process, but that appears not to be discouraging people.<\/p>\n
