President Nana Akufo-Addo has expressed excitement about the progress made by his government so far in the implementation of its much-touted one district, one factory programme.<\/p>\n
The president, who said the implementation of the programme is on course, revealed that 79 factories have so far been implemented under the programme.<\/p>\n
Speaking at the AGI\u2019s 60th<\/sup>\u00a0anniversary celebration in Accra over the weekend, he said an extra 35 were currently undergoing appraisal by the Trade Ministry and the concerned financial institutions.<\/p>\n Nana Addo also assured Ghanaians government is on course to deliver on all of its promises.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/em><\/strong>\u201cSo far, 79 projects have been implemented under the 1D 1F programme. With another 35 going through credit appraisal by officials of Trade and Industry and the financial institutions that are supporting the program,\u201d he said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n While stressing on the industry-focused programmes of his government, the president also indicated that some local companies had already started benefiting from the government\u2019s stimulus packages.<\/p>\n \u201cWe have begun implementing initiatives such as the \u20181-District-1-Factory\u2019 programme, \u2018One Region-One Industrial-Park\u2019 policy, the Stimulus Package for distressed companies, the facilitation of investments into new strategic anchor industries such as automotive and vehicle assembly, pharmaceuticals, garments, textiles, and the exploitation of our bauxite, iron ore and manganese resources,\u201d President Akufo-Addo said.<\/p>\n \u201cUnder the Stimulus Package, two hundred and thirty-seven million dollars ($237 million) has been disbursed to 16 companies, with an additional thirty-five (35) being considered for support,\u201d he added.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Akufo-Addo also stated that \u00a0three vehicle assembly plants for which Memorandums of Understanding have been signed between government and three global car giants; Volkswagen, Nissan and Sinotruk, will become operational in 2019.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" President Nana Akufo-Addo has expressed excitement about the progress made by his government so far in the implementation of its much-touted one district, one factory programme.
