At Falz\u2019s \u2018Moral Instruction\u2019 album listening session recently, Mrs. Falana expressed worry over her son\u2019s refusal to go to church.<\/p>\n
\u201cFolarin, you don\u2019t go to church and I am bothered,\u201d she said. \u201cI hope you would start going to church this year.\u201d<\/p>\n
Responding to the concerns, Falz mentioned that one does not need to go to church to worship God.<\/p>\n
He said; \u201cI have nothing against the church or going to church; everyone has the right to practise the religion they desire but personally, as a Christian, it has been a while that I have been to church. It does not make me less of a Christian. The most important thing is spirituality and your personal connection with God.\u201d<\/p>\n
The musician further noted that he has refused to be punctual at church because whenever he enters the building, he is made to feel uncomfortable as the spotlight is put on him.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe reason I haven\u2019t attended a church service in a long while is because I went to a few churches and during sermons, I was put under undue pressure,\u201d he disclosed. \u201cThere was a time that a pastor called me to the altar just to acknowledge my presence for being in church.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn my mind, I felt that the service was not about me. I felt that everybody was there to worship God, yet they were putting undue pressure on me. The pastor gave me the microphone to address the congregation and I was puzzled; what did he expect me to say to the congregation? These are some of the issues.<\/p>\n
Falz wishes he would be treated like an ordinary person whenever he goes to church instead of pastors acknowledging his presence and \u2018ordering\u2019 the congregation to do same.<\/p>\n
He says: \u201cI just want to go to church and worship God like a regular member of the congregation. I do not want that kind of attention. I was hoping that I would go to church on a Sunday and it would not be like any other day I\u2019m at a public place or doing a show.\u201d<\/p>\n
