And if we are not careful we may take one step forward and another step backward,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on the\u00a0Citi Breakfast Show\u00a0on Friday, Mr. Sowatey, who has followed the Dagbon conflict for over two decades, said: \u201cthe lasting peace would be tested when the new Yaa-Naa comes to power. And how he engages with the other faction will have a sterling impact on his legacy, the legacy of the government, the legacy of the country and the legacy of the Dagbon State in particular.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/DUqu_4yT91o\" width=\"697\" height=\"392\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><br \/>\nThe Yendi Township has been under curfew for so many years following a protracted\u00a0chieftaincy dispute between the two royal gates of Dagbon.<\/p>\n<p>Following the approval of a road-map for peace in Dagbon, the final funeral rites of former overlords of Dagbon were conducted, and a new Yaa-Naa named in the person Abubakari Mahama II.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/citinewsroom.com\/2019\/01\/24\/akufo-addo-in-tamale-for-historic-outdooring-of-new-yaa-naa\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>President Nana Akufo-Addo<\/strong><\/a>, former President John Dramani Mahama among other dignitaries in Dagbon to grace the historic coronation of Abubakari Mahama II as the new Yaa-Naa.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/CIR5qiuxVB0\" width=\"697\" height=\"392\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><br \/>\nThere is currently excitement in the town over the event.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Citi News\u2019<\/strong>\u00a0Northern Regional correspondent, Mohammed Alabira Aminu, reports that the atmosphere in Yendi is charged, as people and traditional authorities are trooping to the forecourt of the Gbewaa Palace, to witness the coronation of the new unifier of Dagbon Kingdom, Yaa Naa Abubakari Mahama II.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/95TTMAsoQB4\" width=\"697\" height=\"392\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><br \/>\nHe said the people of the area are elated that they finally will get a new Yaa-Naa, and have assured to rally behind him to ensure peace prevails in the Dagbon kingdom.<\/p>\n<p>\u2013<\/p>\n<p>Source: Citinewsroom.com<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The people of Dagbon are excited a new Ya-Naa will be outdoored today, Friday, January 25, 2019, after so many years of disagreements.
