He is a former player of the club and would be familiar with routines at the club.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Boateng\u2019s appointment was confirmed on Sunday through the club\u2019s official Twitter handle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure><iframe allowfullscreen=\"true\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/embed\/index.html?creatorScreenName=https%3A%2F%2Ftwitter.com%2Fmynewsgh&amp;dnt=true&amp;embedId=twitter-widget-0&amp;frame=false&amp;hideCard=false&amp;hideThread=false&amp;id=1305174902182273024&amp;lang=en&amp;origin=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.mynewsgh.com%2Fghanas-george-boateng-named-head-coach-of-aston-villa-u-23s%2F&amp;theme=light&amp;widgetsVersion=219d021%3A1598982042171&amp;width=550px\"><\/iframe><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking to Villa TV ahead of his first game today, Boateng expressed his delight in getting the promotion, saying he wants to help the youngsters get a career in the game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe role is fantastic,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cFor me, I\u2019m now making a step-up to working with players who are close to the first team, closer than the Under-18s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are at the top end of the Academy where players have to transition from being a youth player to a senior player. I want to help get them a career in the game.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The former defensive midfield started his managerial career with Malaysian outfit, Kelantan FA in 2014.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On 5 September 2018, Boateng was signed as Under 13\u2019s head coach at&nbsp;Championship&nbsp;club,&nbsp;Blackburn Rovers.
