{"id":17822,"date":"2021-01-06T15:13:11","date_gmt":"2021-01-06T15:13:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.kumasionlinegh.com\/?p=17822"},"modified":"2021-01-06T15:13:14","modified_gmt":"2021-01-06T15:13:14","slug":"ndc-to-hold-funeral-service-for-election-2020-shooting-victims-tomorrow","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kumasionlinetv.com\/?p=17822","title":{"rendered":"NDC to hold funeral service for Election 2020 shooting victims tomorrow"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.kumasionlinegh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/th-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-17823\" width=\"786\" height=\"475\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The National Democratic Congress (NDC) will, tomorrow, observe funeral rites for their supporters that died during and after the 2020 general elections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the party, the rites will ne held at the Abossey Okai Central Mosque Park in Accra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the elections, five people were reported dead in separate shooting incidents at some collation centers in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The five deaths were recorded in the Odododiodio Constituency in the Greater Region, Techiman South Constituency in the Bono East Region, and Savelugu Constituency in the Northern Region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another victim of election shooting also died on December 16 at the Korle-Bu Teaching hospital after the deceased was shot by a military man at the Ablekuma Central collation centre on December 7.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yesterday, the Minority in Parliament fumed at the omission of the killings in President Akufo-Addo&#8217;s last State of the Nation address.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu bemoaned President Akufo-Addo\u2019s failure to capture the death of five people in the elections in the final address of his first term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis honourable house thanks the President for the message on the state of the nation\u2026. Mr President, we leave our fractured democracy in your hands. Conspicuously lost in your speech is the loss of lives in Techiman and other parts of Ghana,\u201d the Minority Leader stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The same sentiment was expressed by political science lecturer Professor Ransford Gyampo who criticized President Akufo-Addo for ignoring the election-related deaths in his address.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u201cA speech coming just after our election that witnessed some deaths should have contained some comment about the needless loss of lives, commiseration with the family of the departed, as well as some vow and commitment to resolving infractions of the law, with the view to forestalling the recurrence of such unwarranted deaths in any future elections,\u201d<\/strong> a part of Gyampo\u2019s statement reads.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The National Democratic Congress (NDC) will, tomorrow, observe funeral rites for their supporters that died during and after the 2020 general elections.
