YouTube has temporarily demonetized the channel of beauty influencer James Charles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Earlier this month, he admitted to sending sexually explicit messages to two 16-year-old boys.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
YouTube confirmed to the BBC that the 21-year-old has been temporarily removed from their Partnership Program. The program allows YouTubers to monetize their content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They did not say how long his channel would be demonetized for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A YouTube spokesperson said the company applied their creator responsibility policy, which states: \u201cIf we see that a creator\u2019s on- and\/or off-platform behaviour harms our users, community, employees or ecosystem, we may take action to protect the community.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This is the second company to re-evaluate its partnership with the influencer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On Friday, Mr. Charles and cosmetics company Morphe announced the end of their partnership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to a statement Mr Charles shared with his 7.8 million followers on Twitter, both parties \u201cagreed to wind down\u201d their collaboration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Accusations<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Earlier this month Mr. Charles shared a video titled \u201cholding myself accountable\u201d to his 25.5 million followers on YouTube.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the video, he admitted to two incidents \u2013 one last year and one more recently \u2013 where, he said, he became aware that the person he was exchanging messages with was underage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The video has been viewed more than 8.5 million times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr. Charles said on Friday that further accusations had been made, that were false.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSince posting that video, many other people have come forward with a series of misleading stories and false allegations which have been reported on by many people, creators and news outlets,\u201d he said via Twitter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMy legal team has begun taking action against those that have spread misinformation and\/or created completely fake stories, as this has gone too far.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
YouTube demonetized the account of David Dobrik, one of the website\u2019s top earners, last month following a rape allegation about a former associate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr. Dobrik has denied any wrongdoing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In 2019, YouTube deleted singer Austin Jones\u2019s channel, after he admitted to exchanging sexually explicit images and videos with underage girls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
