The Minister of Energy, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, has expressed satisfaction at the progress of work at the ongoing Kasoa Bulk Supply Point (BSP) Project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The aim of the 436-megawatt Kasoa BSP is to bring an end to the intermittent power outages and low voltage experienced by residents of Kasoa, Nyanyano, Senya Beraku and adjoining communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The project, which is now about 60 percent complete, will have its capacity boosted to supply electricity for over 300,000 consumers when done.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The project, which began in 2019, is expected to be completed in August 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After touring the construction site, the Energy Minister Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh appealed to residents to be patient with the government as it works to ensure regular power supply for all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe will just continue to ask for patience and forbearance for the people working here,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To the media, he said: \u201cWe ask for corporation, understanding, education, and information through your various portals to educate Ghanaians.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr. Prempeh further assured that \u201cmonies and the financial resources are being provided to ensure that we tackle our [power] problems.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Kasoa BSP is a 435 MWA capacity Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) substation, the second largest of its kind in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is being constructed to address low voltage and frequent power outage challenges caused by increasing domestic and industrial demand in Kasoa and its environs, including Senya Bereku, Bawjiase and Nyanyanu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When completed, the US$50 million BSP project, which is being funded by MiDA under the Ghana Power Compact programme is expected to benefit 241, 508 ECG customers by vastly improving GRIDCo\u2019s power transmission systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
