{"id":21428,"date":"2021-05-21T11:19:05","date_gmt":"2021-05-21T11:19:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.kumasionlinegh.com\/?p=21428"},"modified":"2021-05-21T11:19:07","modified_gmt":"2021-05-21T11:19:07","slug":"tunisian-club-handed-transfer-ban-for-not-paying-nicholas-opoku","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kumasionlinetv.com\/?p=21428","title":{"rendered":"Tunisian club handed transfer ban for not paying Nicholas Opoku"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>FIFA has handed Tunisian giants Club Africain a transfer ban following their failure to pay former player Nicholas Opoku.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Black Stars defender signed for the 13-time Tunisian champions in August 2017 and terminated his contract in June 2018 after a repeated failure to be paid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Court of Arbitration for Sport (Cas), last month, ruled that Club Africain must pay Opoku US$279,500 \u2013 with $117,000 of that relating to outstanding salaries, $100,000 as compensation for breach of contract with the rest covering interest and legal fees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cFifa can confirm that a ban from registering new players internationally has been imposed on Club Africain in relation to this matter,\u201d a Fifa spokesperson told BBC Sport Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe ban will come into force at the beginning of the next registration period.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The club will be able to register players again if they settle their dues with Opoku.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cas, in its finding, ruled that the former African champions had failed to pay Opoku\u2019s salary on time, had imposed a \u2018disproportionate fine\u2019 on the player while also not replying to any of his requests for payment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Even though Opoku terminated his contract on 1 June 2018, Club Africain sold the player to Italy\u2019s Udinese for US$960,000 on 25 June 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Club \u2026 used the situation of unbalance to conclude the transfer agreement with Udinese \u2026 despite the fact that the player had unilaterally terminated the contract,\u201d wrote CAS, sport\u2019s highest legal body.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDespite Udinese\u2019s payment of USD$960,000, the club did not pay the player\u2019s outstanding salaries.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Opoku is currently on loan at French Ligue 2 side Amiens from Italy\u2019s Udinese and enjoyed a fine season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Source:<strong> <\/strong>3<a href=\"https:\/\/3news.com\/category\/news\/\">news<\/a>.com|Ghana<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Send your news stories to\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:dannyboy744@gmail.com\">dannyboy744@gmail.com<\/a>\u00a0and via WhatsApp on +233 266777777<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>FIFA has handed Tunisian giants Club Africain a transfer ban following their failure to pay former player Nicholas Opoku.
