{"id":26648,"date":"2021-07-30T11:49:48","date_gmt":"2021-07-30T11:49:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.kumasionlinegh.com\/?p=26648"},"modified":"2021-07-30T11:49:49","modified_gmt":"2021-07-30T11:49:49","slug":"police-arrest-suspected-criminals-in-swoop-retrieve-weapons-in-kumasi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kumasionlinetv.com\/?p=26648","title":{"rendered":"Police arrest suspected criminals in swoop, retrieve weapons in Kumasi"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested 30 suspected criminals terrorising residents of Aboabo, Tinker Island and its environs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Exhibits&nbsp;retrieved in Wednesday\u2019s swoop include one foreign pistol, live cartridges, &nbsp;pair of scissors, assorted&nbsp;mobile phones and&nbsp;a military jacket.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Others are wrappers of dried leaves suspected to be Indian Hemp and tramadol tablets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Police Spokesperson, ASP Godwin&nbsp;Ahianyo tells Joynews the swoop is one in series to rid the&nbsp;region&nbsp;of&nbsp;criminal&nbsp;dens and hideouts for miscreants terrorizing residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe command in recent times has received a couple of complaints from residents in and around Aboabo, Tinker Island and its environs to the effect that there are some criminal elements within the vicinity who have been attacking residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And because of that, the regional police command decided that we will embark on an exercise in the form of a swoop to be able to get these criminals arrested.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A team of personnel from the Anti-Armed Robbery Unit and the Regional Headquarters Operation embarked on this swoop and we managed to arrest 15 persons,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c We retrieved a number of exhibits. As we speak, we have 1 foreign pistol in our custody; we have 3 live cartridges, machetes, 15 pairs of scissors quantity of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis concealed in a brown envelope and a quantity of tramadol tablets. We also had a military jacket and assorted phones,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.myjoyonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/Aboabo-swoop-3-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"Aboabo swoop www.myjoyonline.com\" class=\"wp-image-10031880918\" title=\"Police arrest suspected criminals in swoop, retrieve weapons in Kumasi\"\/><figcaption><strong><em>Police retrieved foreign pistol and other exhibits<\/em><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>He revealed more of such swoops would be organized to relieve residents of the nefarious activities\u00a0of criminal\u00a0gangs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cPreviously, we used to embark on these swoops at various criminal dens. Sometimes we go to Suame Kotoko, Colombia in Krofrom and other criminal dens.
