A former Deputy Information Minister under the erstwhile Mahama administration, Mr Felix Kwakye Ofosu has expressed doubt about the move by the government to construct 111 hospitals nationwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking on the Top Story on Joy FM on Tuesday, August 17, which was monitored by MyNewsGhana.net, Mr Kwakye Ofosu believes that the move by the government is just attention-seeking rhetoric.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In explaining his stance, Mr Kwakye Ofosu said that the President some time last year cut sod for the construction of some hospitals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said that up till now no construction works have begun on the proposed sites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He cited an example of the Shama hospital project which has not begun even though a sod cut ceremony was held last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On this issue, the government has explained that the cost of each hospital will cost $17 million adding that so far it has secured $100 million for the commencement of these projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This explanation however doesn\u2019t sit well with Mr Kwakye Ofosu who believes that the government is not being candid with the people of the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In concluding, he also cast doubt about the timelines set by the government for the completion of these hospitals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In his view, it is highly unrealistic that the President could say that all 111 hospitals facilities would be finished and ready for use after 18 months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
