The Black Stars on Monday, September 6, 2021, lost to South Africa by a lone goal during the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The match was played at the\u00a0FNB Stadium in South Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bafana Bafana\u2019s Bongokuhle Hlongwane scored the only goal of the contest as the Black Stars tasted defeat in their second group game of the World Cup qualifiers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 4-time AFCON champions started the game very lively and threatened to open the scoresheet very early, but a resolute South African defense kept the Black Stars at bay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After finding their rhythm, Bafana Bafana became relatively unplayable as they controlled the affairs of the game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Percy Tau thought he had broken the deadlock, but he was flagged offside after heading the ball at the back of the net.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

South Africa started the second half of the game with intent and went close once again after a huge error by Richard Ofori almost saw Makgopa punish the Black Stars, but his effort was miscued and narrowly missed the goal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was all South Africa as C.K. Akonnor played a conservative style of play, holding the South Africans for a large part of the game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, South Africa will have their goal finally, as Bongokuhle Hlongwane broke the deadlock in the dying embers of the game to hand Ghana\u2019s first defeat of the 2022 World Cup qualifying series.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
