{"id":28512,"date":"2021-09-07T16:49:31","date_gmt":"2021-09-07T16:49:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.kumasionlinegh.com\/?p=28512"},"modified":"2021-09-07T16:49:32","modified_gmt":"2021-09-07T16:49:32","slug":"kaaka-death-we-are-not-delaying-murder-trial-police-refute-claims","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kumasionlinetv.com\/?p=28512","title":{"rendered":"Kaaka death: We are not delaying murder trial \u2013 Police refute claims"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Police prosecutors conducting investigations into the murder trial of social activist, Ibrahim Muhammed, aka Kaaka, have refuted claims they are not taking the case seriously.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking after the case was adjourned to September 23, 2021, the prosecutor in the case, Chief Superintendent Kofi Blagodzi, said his side was waiting on the Attorney General\u2019s Office for the way forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said the police have given the docket of the case to the Attorney General\u2019s Office, which is preparing to come to court for the committals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking to the media after the court hearing on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, the prosecutor stressed that the police are doing all that they can to ensure justice is served.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt is not the police who do the committals. It is the AG, so the AG will be in court. The falsehood out there that the police are not doing anything about the matter is wrong. It has been established by even the counsel of the accused persons,\u201d Supt. Blagodzi said to\u00a0Citi News.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Three persons have so far been arrested in connection with the death of Ibrahim Muhammed who lived at Ejura in the Ashanti Region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He was attacked on the evening of June 27 and died a day later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The three persons, Issaka Ibrahim, Fuseni Mohammed and Iddi Mohammed have been charged with conspiracy to commit crime and murder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the court hearing, the three accused persons were remanded for the fourth time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite the police explanation, Ibrahim Muhammed\u2019s family remain unconvinced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His brother, Nafiu Mohammed, who was at the court maintained that they were not satisfied with the police\u2019s conduct.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe police officers have not been directly involved and have not taken the case very seriously,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kaaka\u2019s death sparked protests that saw two persons killed after the military responded to the scene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This was then the subject of a commission of inquiry that took testimonies from about 20 witnesses including journalists, police, and military officers, as well as political appointees in the jurisdiction of the incident, and family members of some victims.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The report of the committee is yet to be made public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The committee, made up of Justice George Kingsley Koomson as the Chairman; a security analyst, Dr. Vladimir Antwi-Danso, and the Executive Director of Penplusbytes, Juliet Adiema Amoah,\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/citinewsroom.com\/2021\/07\/ejura-disturbances-investigative-committee-presents-its-report-to-interior-minister\/\">presented its findings<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0to the Interior Minister, Ambrose Dery on Tuesday, July 27, 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Source: citinewsroom.com<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Send your news stories to\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:dannyboy744@gmail.com\">dannyboy744@gmail.com<\/a>\u00a0and via WhatsApp on +233 266777777<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Police prosecutors conducting investigations into the murder trial of social activist, Ibrahim Muhammed, aka Kaaka, have refuted claims they are not taking the case seriously.
