{"id":34827,"date":"2022-01-18T22:34:49","date_gmt":"2022-01-18T22:34:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.kumasionlinegh.com\/?p=34827"},"modified":"2022-01-18T22:39:11","modified_gmt":"2022-01-18T22:39:11","slug":"court-issues-bench-warrant-for-arrest-of-deputy-minister","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kumasionlinetv.com\/?p=34827","title":{"rendered":"Court issues bench warrant for arrest of deputy minister"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/res.6chcdn.feednews.com\/assets\/v2\/2f546b8fad1329decd2ee72f9befeb07?source=nlp&amp;quality=uhq&amp;format=jpeg&amp;resize=720\" alt=\"Mark Okraku Mantey, deputy minister tourism, arts and culture\"\/><figcaption>Mark Okraku Mantey, Deputy minister tourism, arts and culture<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/asaaseradio.com\/circuit-court-throws-out-police-demand-for-owusu-bempah-to-produce-4-people\/\">An Adentan Circuit Court<\/a>&nbsp;has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/asaaseradio.com\/stonebwoy-okrakus-appointment-is-a-glimmer-of-hope-for-music-industry\/\">Mark Okraku Mantey<\/a>, deputy minister of tourism, arts and culture, for failing to appear before it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The deputy minister has been charged for allegedly violating Section 7 (1) and (2) of vigilantism and related offences and forcibly entering the land of one Alhaji Tony Baba.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Okraku Mantey was to appear in court today (18 January) for the continuation or completion of the case management conference for the trial to commence but failed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His lawyer was also absent, but he sought permission from the court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prosecuting, Superintendent of Police Patience Mario, prayed the court for a bench warrant for the arrest of the accused person.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The court presided over by Sedinam Awo Balokah, issued the warrant, and adjourned the matter to 8 February 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The case of the prosecution was that the complainant, Alhaji Tony Baba, was an estate developer residing in North Legon, Accra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It said the complainant was developing a parcel of land in Oyarifa, High Tension, which the accused person was allegedly claiming ownership for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The prosecution said on 3 March last year, the accused person went to the site with three \u201cthugs\u201d two of whom were on a motorbike and another in his (deputy minister\u2019s) car.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The prosecution said on 9 March last year, the accused person visited the site a few hours after, which<br>the \u201cthugs\u201d he previously visited the site with went back to the site and attacked the workers and caused damage to parts of the building allegedly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It said the complainant reported the matter to the Police and mentioned the accused person as the one behind the \u201cunwarranted attacks and damages.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The prosecution said during interrogation, the accused person was contacted to report at the police to assist in investigations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It said while the police were waiting for the accused person, more damages were allegedly caused to the three-bedroom building on 10 March last year, and he was identified as the one who brought and ordered the \u201cthugs\u201d to cause the damage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The prosecution said on 3 April last year, the complainant\u2019s workers were allegedly attacked gain and two persons sustained injuries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It said the injured were issued with Police medical forms to seek treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On 20 March last year, extensive damage was allegedly caused to the building, which was at the lintel level and valued at GHC63,700.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Send your news stories to\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:dannyboy744@gmail.com\">dannyboy744@gmail.com<\/a>\u00a0and via WhatsApp on +233 266777777<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An Adentan Circuit Court&nbsp;has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of&nbsp;Mark Okraku Mantey, deputy minister of tourism, arts and culture, for failing to appear before it.
