{"id":34898,"date":"2022-01-21T13:58:54","date_gmt":"2022-01-21T13:58:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.kumasionlinegh.com\/?p=34898"},"modified":"2022-01-21T13:58:57","modified_gmt":"2022-01-21T13:58:57","slug":"e-levy-consultations-ken-ofori-atta-a-soft-spoken-liar-mp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kumasionlinetv.com\/?p=34898","title":{"rendered":"E-Levy Consultations: Ken Ofori-Atta A Soft-Spoken Liar \u2013 MP"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>The Member of Parliament (MP) for Banda Constituency in the Bono Region Ahmed Ibrahim has negated claims by the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta that consultation has been done for the controversial e-levy to be approved if Parliament resumes next week.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, Mr fori-Atta reiterated that the e-levy is a necessary tool to increase the country\u2019s tax to GDP ratio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAfter extensive consultations, the e-levy will be re-submitted to Parliament this month. We look forward to joining hands with our Honourable Members of Parliament to approve the e-levy on a consensus basis, so we can collectively address the big issue of unemployment\u201d, the Minister said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But Mr Ibrahim insists there have not been any consultations between the NDC members of the house and the majority or government over the passage of the e-levy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said the Minority Leader; Haruna Iddrisu and the Minority Chief Whip Muntaka Mubarak are both out of the jurisdiction as of the moment and, thus, questioned who the finance minister had the consultation with.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking in an interview with Nana Ama Agyarko on Accra 100.5 FM\u2019s evening news on Thursday, January 20, 2022, he questioned: \u201cWho did the Finance minister have the said consultations with on the e-levy ahead of the resumption of Parliament\u201d?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To this end he noted that: \u201cIf it had not been what the Finance Minister said at his Wednesday, January 19, 2022, press conference, I would not have known that Mr. Ken Ofori-Atta is a soft-spoken liar.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr Ibrahim called on Mr Ofori-Atta to come clear on his claims of consultations and sensitization programmes held over the approval of the e-levy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI want to put on record as the Deputy Minority Chief Whip that there have not been any consultations whatsoever on the controversial e-levy with the Minority MPs,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He warned that Ghana\u2019s economy can only progress if Mr Ofori-Atta is removed as the Finance Minister saying \u201cGhana will go nowhere with Ken Ofori-Atta as Finance Minister.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He further noted that Mr Ofori-Atta is an \u201cirresponsible spendthrift with nothing to show for the whopping GHS20 billion he had expended in the last couple of months in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAs MPs on the Minority side, we approved his nomination as finance Minister at the vetting for Ghanaians to know how he has mismanaged the economy.
