{"id":35643,"date":"2022-02-16T11:39:04","date_gmt":"2022-02-16T11:39:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.kumasionlinegh.com\/?p=35643"},"modified":"2022-02-16T11:39:07","modified_gmt":"2022-02-16T11:39:07","slug":"abronye-dc-to-be-arraigned-today-for-publication-of-false-news-offensive-conduct","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kumasionlinetv.com\/?p=35643","title":{"rendered":"Abronye DC to be arraigned today for publication of false news, offensive conduct"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, will be arraigned today over his coup allegations against former President John Mahama.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He is reported to have claimed that the 2020 flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has planned to stage a coup against the government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kwame Baffoe was arrested by the Police on Tuesday after he honoured an invitation to assist in investigations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He has been charged with two counts of publication of false news and offensive conduct conducive to breach of peace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to media reports, the NPP communicator made the claim on Accra-based Hot FM, while responding to the arrest of #FixTheCountry convener, Oliver Mawuse Barker-Vormawor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.kumasionlinegh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/download-36.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-35646\" width=\"819\" height=\"552\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>He had claimed that Mr. Mahama is conspiring with some foreign elements to stage a coup but the Police say their preliminary investigations have established that the claims are untrue and likely to occasion a breach of peace in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He is the third person to have been charged with this offense of publishing fake news in the last 10 days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, a member the communication team of the NPP, Hopeson Adorye has expressed disappointment at the manner in which the Police handled the case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe charges that have been levelled against him are unfair. He was minding his business when he was called from a Radio station to react to a comment another person had made<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.kumasionlinegh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/download-35.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-35645\" width=\"958\" height=\"450\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHow can this pass for misconduct? I am not a law student but I don\u2019t think it does. I believe the IGP thought he spoke from the studio, but he did not. We are going to prove this to the IGP tomorrow [Wednesday]. He only said the mindset of Oliver is what Mahama carries. Isn\u2019t that the case? Don\u2019t they work together?
