{"id":35802,"date":"2022-02-21T12:56:47","date_gmt":"2022-02-21T12:56:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.kumasionlinegh.com\/?p=35802"},"modified":"2022-02-21T13:13:08","modified_gmt":"2022-02-21T13:13:08","slug":"medikal-pleads-guilty-for-displaying-gun-in-public-fined-gh%c2%a23600","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kumasionlinetv.com\/?p=35802","title":{"rendered":"Medikal pleads guilty for displaying gun in public, fined GH\u00a23,600"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Ghanaian rapper, Samuel Adu Frimpong known in show business as Medikal has pleaded guilty to an offense of displaying arms and ammunition in a public place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He has therefore been sentenced to 300 penalty units, i.e, GHS 3,600 or to serve a nine-month prison term in default of the payment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This was after Medikal, to the surprise of the Prosecution, notified the Accra Circuit Court 2 that he wanted to change his plea from \u201cnot guilty\u201d to guilty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chief Inspector Denis Terkpetey, who leads the charge of the State, obviously taken aback by the sudden change of plea, attempted opposing the move.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He told the court that \u201cwe [the Prosecution] are not aware that he wants to change his plea\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This, however, drew an angry response from both Bar and Bench as they all exclaimed in unison \u201coh how\u201d!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His Honour, Emmanuel Essandoh, quizzed why the Prosecution wanted to be pre-informed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Not very impressed by the posture of the prosecution, His Honour directed his clerk to read out the charges again for the Court to take Medikal\u2019s plea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Medikal is standing trial for&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/citinewsroom.com\/2021\/10\/medikal-granted-gh%c2%a2100000-bail-after-5-day-remand\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>displaying arms and ammunition<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/a>on September 26, 2021, few hours after he had shown up in Court in support of colleague singer, Shatta Wale over a hoax shooting incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last month, the Accra Circuit Court 4 advised lawyers for the rapper, Medikal, to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/citinewsroom.com\/2022\/01\/court-advises-medikals-lawyers-to-formally-request-for-his-gun\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>formally apply for the release of his gun<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This follows an oral submission by the lawyers for an order for the release of the gun which they say is still in the custody of the police.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Send your news stories to&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:dannyboy744@gmail.com\">dannyboy744@gmail.com<\/a>&nbsp;and via WhatsApp on +233 266777777<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ghanaian rapper, Samuel Adu Frimpong known in show business as Medikal has pleaded guilty to an offense of displaying arms and ammunition in a public place.
