{"id":42454,"date":"2022-07-02T17:34:42","date_gmt":"2022-07-02T17:34:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.kumasionlinegh.com\/?p=42454"},"modified":"2022-07-02T17:34:48","modified_gmt":"2022-07-02T17:34:48","slug":"ndc-mp-sheds-tears-as-court-frees-him-on-charges-of-fraud-money-laundering","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kumasionlinetv.com\/?p=42454","title":{"rendered":"NDC MP sheds tears as court frees him on charges of fraud, money laundering"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Member of Parliament (MP) for Twifo Atti-Morkwa, David Vondee, has been acquitted and discharged by an Accra High Court on charges of defrauding by false pretences and money laundering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The MP,\u202fwho seemed to be surprised by the court\u2019s ruling, asked his lawyer if he was indeed free.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cCounsel, am I free forever?\u201d He asked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The court, presided over by Justice Mary Maame Ekue Yanzuh, held that the State could not prove the charges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The MP on hearing the acquittal shed tears in the dock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The legislator, through his lawyer, filed a submission of no case after prosecution had closed its case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The State had arraigned the MP and charged him for allegedly defrauding a private of $2.4 million and money laundering between August 2015 and July 2016.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The MP denied the charges and was admitted to bail in the sum of GHC 2 million in May last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>SEND A STORY:<\/strong>\u00a0Do you have a story for us or need a promotion\/advertisement?
