{"id":45237,"date":"2022-08-11T09:15:49","date_gmt":"2022-08-11T09:15:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.kumasionlinegh.com\/?p=45237"},"modified":"2022-08-11T09:15:56","modified_gmt":"2022-08-11T09:15:56","slug":"akufo-addo-urged-to-set-up-team-to-prepare-programme-for-imf","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kumasionlinetv.com\/?p=45237","title":{"rendered":"Akufo-Addo urged to set up team to prepare programme for IMF"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Economist Professor Godfred Bokpin, has urged the President to start thinking about the team that will draw up Ghana\u2019s programme for IMF support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking on&nbsp;<strong>Eyewitness News<\/strong>, he said, \u201cit may be helpful for the President to set up a team specifically to design this programme that can be presented to the fund as quickly as possible.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAs it stands now, we need a team that really can relate to the IMF at that level,\u201d Prof. Bokpin added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The country\u2019s inflation rate also&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/citinewsroom.com\/2022\/08\/ghanas-inflation-rate-rises-again-hits-31-7-in-july-2022\/\">hit 31.7 percent in the month of July 2022<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fitch&nbsp;expects a deal with the IMF to be in place within six months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It also estimates that Ghana could benefit from as much as $3 billion and unlock budget support from other multilateral lenders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The IMF concluded a fact-finding mission to Ghana in July in which it met with key stakeholders like the Vice President, Finance Minister and the Bank of Ghana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prof. Bokpin feels Ghana is currently in a tight situation and \u201cwe need to take a critical look to salvage the situation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also on the show, the Bolgatanga Central MP, Isaac Adongo, criticised the government for not being committed enough to solving Ghana\u2019s economic challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSo quite clearly, these guys are not thinking about how to take the difficult decisions in order to resuscitate the economy.
