{"id":47018,"date":"2022-08-30T15:05:55","date_gmt":"2022-08-30T15:05:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.kumasionlinegh.com\/?p=47018"},"modified":"2022-08-30T15:06:00","modified_gmt":"2022-08-30T15:06:00","slug":"auditor-general-cites-top-judges-for-unlawful-purchase-of-vehicles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kumasionlinetv.com\/?p=47018","title":{"rendered":"Auditor General cites top Judges for unlawful purchase of vehicles"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>At least 19 past and current judges of Ghana\u2019s Superior Courts have been fingered by the Auditor General for the purchase of vehicles contrary to Regulation 158 of Public Financial Management Regulations, 2019 (L.I. 2378).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This regulation provides that the Principal Spending Officer of a covered entity shall obtain the prior written approval of the Minister for the transfer, exchange, sale, donation, contribution-in-kind, trust and any other disposal of any vehicles of the covered entity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Regulation 158 also states that any such disposal, lease and other action referred to in Sub-regulation 1 that is made without the written approval of the Minister, is void.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A report by the Auditor General lists the Judges recently retired Supreme Court Judges Yaw Appau and Julius Ansah of acquiring vehicles contrary to this law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Auditor General wants the vehicles recovered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIn the absence of approval from the Minister for Finance, we recommended that the auction should be nullified, and the vehicles recovered,\u201d the report stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>See relevant portion of the report below;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.myjoyonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/WhatsApp-Image-2022-08-30-at-1.59.43-PM-733x1024.jpeg\" alt=\"Auditor-General cites top Judges for unlawful purchase of vehicles\" class=\"wp-image-10032161922\" title=\"Auditor-General cites top Judges for unlawful purchase of vehicles\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>SEND A STORY:<\/strong>\u00a0Do you have a story for us or need a promotion \/ advertisement?
