{"id":48360,"date":"2022-09-14T09:34:21","date_gmt":"2022-09-14T09:34:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.kumasionlinegh.com\/?p=48360"},"modified":"2022-09-14T09:34:25","modified_gmt":"2022-09-14T09:34:25","slug":"news-in-transport-fares-up-30","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kumasionlinetv.com\/?p=48360","title":{"rendered":"News In: Transport fares up 30%"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In consultation with the Ghana Private Road and Transport Union (GPRTU) of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), the Private Transport Operators Association of Ghana has announced a 30% increase in fares starting Tuesday, 21 September 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The association says the fare hike has become necessary due to the current economic situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A statement from the association said the prices of petroleum and spare parts keep increasing daily coupled with other \u201cnuisance taxes\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDue to the increase in fuel products, spare parts and the poor management of the economy by the government, we are unable to make enough money to cater for our families and pay off our loans\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It added: \u201cElectricity tariff, water tariff, prices of spare parts, prices of food and pure water have all increased, hence, we have no option than also to increase our fares\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The transport operators are urging the general public to cooperate with them on their new fares and caution their members against charging more than the agreed 30%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>SEND A STORY:<\/strong>\u00a0Do you have a story for us or need a promotion \/ advertisement?
