Ghanaian singer Adez who started her career as a backing vocalist has revealed the sexual harassment passed through at the hands of so-called investors just to break into the mainstream<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The singer who rose to fame on the Mentor reality show powered by TV3 in 2017 told Nana Adjoa Arthur, host of Yenko fie on Connect 97.1 FM how men wanted to take advantage of her before advancing her music career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Adez said: \u201cIt\u2019s not easy for a woman to become a musician in Ghana. You have to be very strong and tough to not fall prey to the order, which is sex for favours. That has been there since, even before I started music. I\u2019m a victim, and it\u2019s not easy. Most of the industry players(men) want to have sex with you before supporting you.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She said her strong principle prevailed and that safeguarded her against the malicious men.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMy motto has always been that I\u2019ll never sleep with anybody who wants to support me musically. And I stood my ground because I\u2019m a very tough woman. I was nearly raped along the way, but I never gave up on music. I still meet investors who come with lies and huge promises, but at the end of the day, they all want sex. So like I said, if you\u2019re not smart and tough, they will finish you without a deal.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The singer whose full name is Victoria Adezewa Stokes also mentioned that she had enrolled in a beading program. yet continues to make music and perform. She begged her followers to support her work going forward. Despite the challenges, she promised her followers that she would never give up on her singing career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c is my first love, and nothing can make me stop. Unless I\u2019m old aged and feeble, then, I can decide that yes, it\u2019s time and I\u2019ve done my part. I still perform gigs even tho I\u2019m in school. I have a couple of music with some mainstream artists that will soon be released,\u201d Adez disclosed. \u201cI\u2019m thankful to TV3, the media and everybody who supports me. Please don\u2019t stop.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
