Finance Minister, Mr. Ken Ofori-Atta presents signed document to James Bruce, Executive Director for Wholesale Bank, Access Bank<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Access Bank Ghana has signed an agreement with the Ministry of Finance to support government\u2019s entrepreneurial initiative, the YouStart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This is in line with the Bank\u2019s commitment to see Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs) thrive and position them to continually support Ghana\u2019s economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The YouStart programme, is a vehicle through which the government of Ghana intends to provide funding and technical support to the youth aged between 18-40 years and youth-led businesses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The intervention aims at assisting the youth to start, build, and grow their own businesses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Through this programme, government intends to commit about \u20b510 billion over the next 3 years through the assistance of banks, towards the creation of at least a million jobs in the economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Explaining the Bank\u2019s decision to come on board the initiative, the Executive Director for Wholesale Banking at Access Bank Ghana, James Bruce who spoke on behalf of Access Bank Ghana\u2019s Managing Director, Olumide Olatunji, intimated that Access Bank Ghana has been a strong pillar of support to SMEs over the years and will not relent in its efforts to see the sector continually thrive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAccess Bank\u2019s SMEs\u2019 focus has over the past few years revolved around boosting the capacity of SMEs on digitalization, providing business advisory services, facilitating networking opportunities for them through workshops and clinics and ultimately providing funds for them\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He noted that within the past two years, Access Bank Ghana has advanced about \u20b5 50million to SMEs in Ghana to boost their capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Bank has also championed several programmes geared towards building resilient SMEs such as SME Clinics and Capacity Building Workshops on digitalization across the country, the Business startup Challenge and Womenpreneur Pitchaton platforms that nurture startups and entreprenuers with creative ideas to get funding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOur support to YouStart therefore, further entrenches our belief in the sector and desire to push them to succeed\u201d, he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He stated that as a go-to Bank for SMEs, Access Bank Ghana remains committed to its promise of providing more than banking to customers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
