According to Delay, when she joined the media space some years ago, she realized that the number of media houses that used the local dialect was just a few. She disclosed that it gingered her to use Twi on the radio although she was lambasted for doing so at that time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking in an interview with Kumasi-based Pure FM, \u2018Bar4Bar\u2019, hosted by Kojo Sebor, Delay disclosed that when she started her show in the local dialect on radio some years back, she was tagged as a \u201cvillager and weird\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOf course, of course, I will boldly chest out to say I have made Twi language usage prestigious on the airwaves. When I came on television the first time, years ago, some people tagged me as a villager and illiterate for speaking Twi.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAt that time, the likes of Maame Dokono and some oldies were frequenting the Twi language while for the youngsters, the English Language was the thing\u201d, Delay answered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Delay, her choice of language on the radio back then made her look like the only odd one in the midst of the chickens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe likes of Wolf, Caroline Simpson, Jeremy, Doreen Andoh, and other known faces were all English Speakers and I was like the weird person.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cBut today, corporate brands like Coca-Cola, Vodafone, and Ideal Milk are all going along with some appealing Twi slogans for advertisement purposes. Twi has become the new flex,\u201d She intoned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In addition, she spewed, \u201cI believe it is the way to go because Germans don\u2019t speak English and Italians don\u2019t utter Turkish. So we need to accept what we have and be proud of it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
