{"id":55428,"date":"2022-11-16T22:49:02","date_gmt":"2022-11-16T22:49:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.kumasionlinegh.com\/?p=55428"},"modified":"2022-11-16T22:49:06","modified_gmt":"2022-11-16T22:49:06","slug":"censure-motion-hearing-piac-gnpc-to-face-committee-tomorrow","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kumasionlinetv.com\/?p=55428","title":{"rendered":"<strong>Censure motion hearing: PIAC, GNPC to face committee tomorrow<\/strong>"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Parliamentary Ad-hoc Committee hearing the censure motion against the beleaguered Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta will resume sitting tomorrow after suspending proceedings for one day.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Thursday, November 17, officials of the Public Interest and Accountability Committee (PIAC) and the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) will appear before it.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, a member of the Committee announced this in a social media post on Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The North Tongu MP disclosed that proceedings for the day will begin at 11:00am.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Ken Ofori-Atta Vote of Censure Parliamentary Committee resumes public hearings tomorrow at 11am.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe expect PIAC and GNPC to appear before us,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/AD838A42-D4C0-4A61-AEF7-385BF44E8122-1024x683.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/AD838A42-D4C0-4A61-AEF7-385BF44E8122-1024x683.jpeg\" alt=\"Censure motion hearing: PIAC, GNPC to face committee tomorrow\" class=\"wp-image-10032210125\" width=\"738\" height=\"492\" title=\"Censure motion hearing: PIAC, GNPC to face committee tomorrow\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The Committee began its work on Tuesday, with proponents (Majority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu and Cassiel Ato Forson) adducing evidence for their motion.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, there were heated exchanges between the North Tongu MP, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa and Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, counsel for the embattled Finance Minister.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/2EC156F2-30E9-4457-B783-DB17C0BEE2EA-683x1024.jpeg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/2EC156F2-30E9-4457-B783-DB17C0BEE2EA-683x1024.jpeg\" alt=\"Censure motion hearing: PIAC, GNPC to face committee tomorrow\" class=\"wp-image-10032210126\" title=\"Censure motion hearing: PIAC, GNPC to face committee tomorrow\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The heated exchanges ensued when Mr. Ablakwa asked a question about the controversial National Cathedral.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, Mr. Ofori-Atta\u2019s lawyer (Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko) strongly opposed the question.&nbsp;He suggested that the North Tongu MP could organise a press conference to make those political statements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/72A1197C-1F0E-4FCE-861F-7F1CD49669BA-1024x683.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/72A1197C-1F0E-4FCE-861F-7F1CD49669BA-1024x683.jpeg\" alt=\"Censure motion hearing: PIAC, GNPC to face committee tomorrow\" class=\"wp-image-10032210127\" width=\"705\" height=\"470\" title=\"Censure motion hearing: PIAC, GNPC to face committee tomorrow\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe strongly object this line of questioning. He can hold a press conference and talk about this, not here. We are here for serious allegations that have been leveled against the Finance Minister,\u201d he said.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, Mr. Ablakwa objected to Mr. Asare Otchere-Darko\u2019s comments.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The outspoken lawmaker also in his objection said, Mr. Asare Otchere-Darko cannot teach the Committee how to do its work.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He added that he would not be schooled on his duties as an MP by the lawyer.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cYou cannot come here and throw your weight about.&nbsp;You will not teach me how to do my work.
