Private legal practitioner, Gabby Otchere-Darko, has taken to his Twitter account, to eulogise the late former Minister of Finance, Professor Kwesi Botchwey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a tweet on Saturday, the NPP stalwart said the deceased NDC cadre did remarkably well at the helm of the Finance Ministry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to him, Professor Botchwey\u2019s deeds some decades ago, are still having impact currently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFormer finance minister Kwesi Botchwey is dead \u2013 his leadership and commitment to the structural changes to our economy in the late 80s were critical and the impact still with us today\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMay he rest in perpetual peace\u201d, he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr Otchere-Darko\u2019s comments follow the demise of the law Professor on Saturday, November 19, 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to unimpeachable sources, the erstwhile NDC appointee died after a short illness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This sad incident reportedly happened at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, where he was receiving treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prior to his demise, he was a key member of the Council of Elders of the National Democratic Congress, having played an integral role in the evolution of the NDC, from its PNDC era.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He died at age 78.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Botchwey was Minister of Finance and Economic Planning from 1982 to 1995 when he was appointed by the late President J.J. Rawlings to assist in stabilizing Ghana\u2019s economy at the time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He received his secondary school education at Presbyterian Boys\u2019 Senior High School in Ghana. Dr. Botchwey holds an LL.B from the University of Ghana, a LL.M from Yale Law School, and doctorate from the University of Michigan Law School. He taught at the University of Zambia, the University of Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) and the University of Ghana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanhwile, tributes continue to pour in for the late scholar, especially from his close associates and sympathizers of the National Democratic Congress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
