Ghana captain Andre Ayew believes they have the quality to face big teams ahead of their World Cup opener against Portugal in Doha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Black Stars, who may not boast of experience with a majority of the players set to make a major tournament debut come up against former European champions on Thursday. Ghana will also face former world champions Uruguay in Group H.
Portugal have some of their players who won the European Championship in 2016 as well as the core of the team that won the UEFA Nations League in 2018-19. Uruguay similarly have Luis Suarez who has been playing with Edinson Cavani since 2014 as well as Diego Godin.
Nonetheless, Andre Ayew, one of the squad\u2019s most experienced players, believes Black Stars are capable of competing with the big teams at the highest level.
\u201cIt\u2019s true that before the game comes we\u2019ll feel the stress, we\u2019ll feel the pressure. It\u2019s World Cup and we\u2019re playing against Portugal. It\u2019s normal. If you don\u2019t feel it then you\u2019re not human.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But it\u2019s how you deal with it and I feel that the players that we have are playing at good clubs and they play in big games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019s true that when you wear the Ghana jersey, it\u2019s very heavy but I feel the boys are calm and ready to go for it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ghana\u2019s match against Portugal will be followed by a match against South Korea on November 28 before concluding their group stage schedule against Uruguay on December 2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
