{"id":56512,"date":"2022-11-29T07:08:02","date_gmt":"2022-11-29T07:08:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.kumasionlinegh.com\/?p=56512"},"modified":"2022-11-29T07:08:04","modified_gmt":"2022-11-29T07:08:04","slug":"finance-minister-must-be-open-with-ghanaians","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kumasionlinetv.com\/?p=56512","title":{"rendered":"<strong>Finance Minister must be open with Ghanaians<\/strong>"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, wants the government to be open and candid with Ghanaians as its negotiation with the International Monetary Fund nears completion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr. Bagbin said the government must bring all Ghanaians on board to find solutions to the challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking to journalists in Ho in the Volta Region, Mr. Bagbin said the Finance Ministry must show openness in all its dealings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe absence of openness and transparency can lead to suspicion and a profound sense of despair and hopelessness. It is in this regard that I call on the Minister of Finance to muster the courage to be candid, open and to speak truth to power,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDon\u2019t come and repeat what we have been told already, We know it. Give us policy alternatives,\u201d Mr. Bagbin added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Critics of the government have accused it of not being forthright about the country\u2019s finances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The opposition National Democratic Congress, for example, accused the government of fiscal recklessness and&nbsp;<strong>creative accounting as Ghana\u2019s economic<\/strong>&nbsp;crisis took shape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The government is currently seeking $3 billion from the International Monetary Fund to support the economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The government sought the International Monetary Fund\u2019s support months after being urged by the opposition to do so amid worsening inflation and forex challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before going to the International Monetary Fund, the government had claimed it was on sound financial ground and did not need International Monetary Fund support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=\/J4Psmy_I_uk\">https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=\/J4Psmy_I_uk<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>SEND A STORY:<\/strong>&nbsp;Do you have a story for us or need a promotion \/ advertisement?
