{"id":57133,"date":"2022-12-06T23:09:16","date_gmt":"2022-12-06T23:09:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.kumasionlinegh.com\/?p=57133"},"modified":"2022-12-06T23:12:27","modified_gmt":"2022-12-06T23:12:27","slug":"time-for-ghana-to-set-up-a-gold-bank-like-agriculture-bank-chairman-wontumi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kumasionlinetv.com\/?p=57133","title":{"rendered":"<strong>Time For Ghana To Set Up A Gold Bank Like Agriculture Bank \u2013 Chairman Wontumi<\/strong>"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The owner of Akonta Mining Limited, Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako is calling on all major gold mining firms to come together and endorse his proposal for a Gold Bank to be set up in Ghana just like farmers have set up the Agriculture Development Bank.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a keynote address delivered at a strategic mining workshop held at Best Atlantic Hotel in Takoradi, Mr. Antwi-Boasiako popularly known as Chairman Wontumi stated that setting up a gold bank would be good for Ghana\u2019s economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He explained that setting up a gold bank would be a foundation for investors and Ghanaians to be given huge loans for business operations which would impact positively on the economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chairman Wontumi stated that inasmuch as the government of Ghana is looking at profiting from the royalties they get from miners, it should look beyond it and endorse and work at establishing a gold bank for citizens to save with gold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He also addressed the difficulties local large-scale firms encounter by mentioning that finding, investors is their main problem. He, therefore, called on the government to extend a hand to their operations adding that \u201cwithout the support from the government, it would be difficult for us reach our goals. I am happy MIIF is here\u2026it has to help the local large scale so that we can have funds for their operations.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chairman Wontumi indicated that if the government supports the operations of local large-scale miners, it is assured the majority of the profits they make from the business is retained here unlike the foreign mining companies who take theirs out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He acknowledged that it was a privilege for Akonta Mining Limited, a large-scale local mining firm to be part of the workshop put together by the University of Oxford and was hopeful a gold bank would be established to strengthen the economy of Ghana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>SEND A STORY:<\/strong>&nbsp;Do you have a story for us or need a promotion \/ advertisement?
