This includes both domestic and external debt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This admission was contained in a statement issued by the Ministry on Monday, December 19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The statement also announced the suspension of payments on some external debts including Eurobonds, commercial term loans, and most bilateral debts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis suspension is an interim emergency measure pending future agreements with all relevant creditors.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before this, the government had announced a domestic debt exchange programme, which has been strongly resisted by public workers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some of them have threatened to lay down their tools if government goes ahead with the programme, which they claim will affect their hard-earned pensions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAre we going to sit down for this to happen in this country? 35% payee, how much is the salary and you take the 35, how much will remain for you to take care of your family?
