The Minority in parliament says it is vindicated by the stance taken by the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Madam Gloria Akuffo on the Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) agreement between the Government of Ghana and Africa and Middle East Resources Investment Group LLC also known as Ameri Energy.<\/p>\n
They argue that the stance of the Attorney General vindicates the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the erstwhile Mahama led government that the Ameri deal was and is clean and warrants no abrogation of the contract.<\/p>\n
According to a statement signed by the Hon. Adam Mutawakilu, ranking member for the Mines and Energy Committee in parliament on behalf of the Minority, issues raised by the current administration when it was in opposition including the fact that the contract was full of gross misrepresentations, fraudulent and without value for money were all baseless.<\/p>\n
The statement also faulted the Minister of energy for failing to accept and publish the findings of a 17 member committee he (the Minister) set up to investigate the Ameri deal since February 2017.<\/p>\n
The statement in part said, \u2018\u2019 the NDC Minority in Parliament is calling on the government of Nana Addo and Bawumia to swallow its pride and apologize to Former President Mahama and the NDC for the unwarranted attacks they received from the NPP in the run-up to 2016 general elections\u2019\u2019.<\/p>\n
\u2018\u2019They must also apologize to Ghanaians for the deceit they perpetuated against them to solicit their voters.<\/p>\n
\u2018\u2019The legal advice from the Minister of Justice and Attorney General has once again proved that Former President Mahama and his government took a very good decision in the wake of the energy challenges by entering into the BOOT agreement with AMERI Energy which was scheduled for 5 years after which the assets will be taken over by the Government of Ghana\u2019\u2019 the statement concluded.<\/p>\n
