A Nursing Midwife [name withheld for now] stationed at the Suhum Government Hospital in the Eastern Region of Ghana got so infuriated by the \u201clabour noise\u201d of a pregnant woman that she decided slaps were the best solution to shut \u2018her patient\u2019 up.<\/p>\n
The pregnant woman was reportedly bleeding profusely and in pain which necessitated her wailing, but the nurse didn\u2019t take kindly to that and resorted to slapping the pregnant woman to shut her up as she was \u2018disturbing\u2019 the entire hospital.<\/p>\n
The woman, [whose name we can\u2019t put out for now] hails from one of the towns in Suhum called her husband who was already preparing to come to the hospital to narrate the abuse She suffered at the hands of the nurse.<\/p>\n
The husband organized and bused prominent family members to the hospital for a citizen arrest and to protest against the conduct of the nurse.<\/p>\n
The angry family members\u2019 who thronged the Suhum Government Hospital threatened to beat up the nurse, but the timely intervention of the security men at the hospital who brought the situation under control.<\/p>\n
The family thereafter reported the matter to the Medical Superintendent of the Hospital, Dr. Emmanuel Ashong whose intervention calmed things down.<\/p>\n
MyNewsGH.com confirmed the development from the Medical Superintendent of the Suhum Government Hospital who indicated that an investigation has commenced into the incident. He also confirmed same with Accra FM. He noted that, a committee has been set up by the hospital Management to investigate, added that, after the committee comes out with its report, the management will take action against the nurse..<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen the report comes, management will ask on it. The nurse has applied for a leave but we are doing an investigation\u201d.<\/p>\n
Our sources confirmed that indeed the pregnant woman was calling for help while in pains as she was screaming in her delivery which infuriated the midwife to give her the dirty slaps.<\/p>\n
Dr. Emmanuel Ashong described it as very \u2018unfortunate\u2019.<\/p>\n
