{"id":8584,"date":"2018-06-13T11:11:28","date_gmt":"2018-06-13T10:11:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kumasionlinegh.com\/?p=8584"},"modified":"2018-06-13T11:11:28","modified_gmt":"2018-06-13T10:11:28","slug":"attorney-general-insists-gfa-will-be-dissolved","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kumasionlinetv.com\/?p=8584","title":{"rendered":"Attorney General insists GFA will be dissolved"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_8585\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-8585\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-8585\" src=\"http:\/\/kumasionlinegh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/Gloria-Akuffo.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"398\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.kumasionlinetv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/Gloria-Akuffo.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.kumasionlinetv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/Gloria-Akuffo-410x272.jpg 410w, https:\/\/www.kumasionlinetv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/Gloria-Akuffo-310x205.jpg 310w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-8585\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Justice Gloria Akuffo<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Gloria Akuffo, has reaffirmed that Government will go ahead with processes aimed at dissolving the Ghana Football Association.<\/p>\n<p>This comes in the wake of several appeals from various quarters for an alternative approach to be employed.<\/p>\n<p>The stance was taken after a documentary into corruption in football put together by Anas Aremeyaw Anas, revealed over a 100 match officials and top ranking members of the GFA had taken various sums of money to influence matches.<\/p>\n<p>Kwesi Nyantakyi,who recently resigned as President of the GFA was also caught on tape plotting to fleece the FA of sponsorship money while promising supposed investors access to President Akufo Addo for a fee.<\/p>\n<p>He even went ahead to outline a blue print laden with details on how to bribe politicians in strategic positions in a bid to gain control of key projects within the country.<\/p>\n<p>The State has filed a petition to have the GFA dissolved as well as a ten-day interim injunction to enable the State prepare adequately to deal with the rot at the GFA following revelations from the documentary.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cIt gives us sometime to bring the application on notice to the affected parties. It is really intended to hold the situation so that pending the determination of the petition which is asking that the GFA be liquidated. It is the view of government that the GFA as constituted presently is not performing the objectives of which\u00a0 it was incorporated. Clearly from the Anas video, it is being used as a vehicle for illegality,\u201d she stated.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) as well as former GFA Chairman, Dr. Nyaho Nyaho Tamakloe, believes the stakeholders of the game should be allowed to play a major role in what should be a restructuring process.<\/p>\n<p>GHALCA on the other hand were seeking permission to set a date for an emergency congress, but\u00a0 have been turned down by the Sports Ministry.<\/p>\n<p>The Attorney General however insists that the FA has deviated from its primary functions and thus must be completely disbanded.<\/p>\n<p>An interim committee to run football in the country has dominated discussions and is expected to be named in the coming days.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Gloria Akuffo, has reaffirmed that Government will go ahead with processes aimed at dissolving the Ghana Football Association.
