The Narcotic Control Board (NACOB) has confirmed that there are \u2018wee\u2019 pastries, \u2018wee\u2019 toffees, \u2018wee\u2019 chewing gum and many others on sale to the public and called on parents and guardians to be careful when buying toffees and biscuits for their children.<\/p>\n

The Deputy Central Regional Commander of NACOB, Mr. Rees Hakeem Oduro who hinted about this development \u00a0said some bad guys are trying to make money by hooking their customers loyally and are finding new and better ways of using drugs without being noticed.<\/p>\n
He also mentioned that some do this to avert being caught smoking.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe all know that when someone is smoking wee and the person is even standing far you will know that he or she is smoking wee so if it is in a form of toffee or biscuit and one is eating how will you know?\u201d he asked.<\/p>\n
Mr. Hakeem Oduro raised this alarm during the celebration of this year\u2019s World Drug Day at Atabaze in the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abream (KEEA) Municipality of the Central Region Organized by the Elmina Coalition for Change to mark the International World Drug Day, covered by MyNewsGH.com\u2019s Asana Gordon.<\/p>\n
According to him, NACOB decided to mark this year\u2019s World Drug Day with the people of Atabaze through Elmina Coalition for Change to interact with the people to create awareness on the dangers of drug abuse causing mayhem in the society.<\/p>\n
Mr. Hakeem Oduro entreated the public especially the youth to stay away from wee toffee, wee shito, biscuits or any form of food which contains wee because it\u2019s equally as harmful as smoking wee since the effect is basically the same.<\/p>\n
A documentary video was shown by the Education Officer of NACOB on the danger of how some people trafficking drugs ended of their lives.<\/p>\n
She urged youth to stay away from drug abuse and not allow anyone to convince them to be couriers.<\/p>\n
On his part, the Chairman for Elmina Coalition for Change (EC4C), Mr. Samuel Owusu Boaheng said their mission is to engage community members and stakeholders in planning and implementing effective measures to reduce drug abuse in Elmina.<\/p>\n
He pledged the Elmina Coalition for Change to give much attention to fight social challenges including the use of illicit drugs.<\/p>\n
According to him, his outfit does counseling to help those who are addicted to drug and want to stop.<\/p>\n
He used the celebration of the World Drugs Day to appeal to the government and philanthropists to construct rehabilitations centers in the country.<\/p>\n
