In what is seen by many as an irony of fate, it has been revealed that 3 top bishops of the Methodist Church who are opposed to Muslim students fasting in Wesley Girls High School attended T.I AMASS, a Muslim second cycle institution.

This information was revealed by leader of the Muslim Caucus in parliament, Hon. Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak who was speaking on Joy News PM Express re-streamed by MyNewsGh.com.

He didn’t name the three Bishops concerned but the Methodist Church has been in the news over its decision to block Muslim students in its affiliated school Wesley Girls SHS from fasting or even praying in the school.

The Methodist Church released a statement in opposition to an earlier statement by the Ghana Education Service in which it said the Muslim students in the school could fast (and pray) provided parents will sign an undertaking .

The school had said the decision was purely on health grounds.

The Methodist Church involvement has brought a religious dimension to the issue.
