The National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, on Wednesday, donated food items to the Akropong School for the Blind and Mampong Demonstration School for the Deaf in the Akuapim North Municipality of the Eastern Region.

The beneficiaries took delivery of items worth thousands of Cedis including rice, oil and rams.

Spokesperson for the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Aremeyao Shuaib stated that the gesture was to mark the Eid al-Fitr celebration with joy and love with the beneficiaries.

Sheikh Aremeyao stressed that it was the heart desire of the National Chief Imam to visit and to demonstrate this kind gesture to the two schools.

“A few days after we have celebrated the Eid al-Fitr festival, National Chief Imam and his advisors taught our fasting wouldn’t be complete without giving attention to the needs of the children and grandchildren in the School for the Deaf and the School for the Blind.”
He said “the Chief Imam taught with the spirit of compassion and love would want to pay a visit to these schools to say that he has his grandchildren here, whom he loves so much, whom he cares so much and whose needs are part of the thinking all the time. So we’ve come with some token of donation of food items to help them also have something to be eaten all in the spirit of our celebration.”

He lauded the students for not loitering around the streets to beg for their needs rather using their disability to procure knowledge in school.

“Even in the state of your disability is something that we care for. We have many of you who are on the streets, have not found the opportunity to be in the school like this and we see them begging.
