The Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu, while submitting to the floor of parliament on Tuesday in reaction to the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta’s recent announcement of concessions on the 2022 budget, said the levy will among other things derail Ghana’s efforts to grow a digital economy.

We on this side [Minority in Parliament] are unable to support the government in its quest to impose an E-levy at 1.75% on Momo and associated transactions including remittances and bank transactions,” he said.

“Therefore we stand opposed, and at every level that E-levy is being introduced, we will stand united to oppose it because it will inflict hardships on the core poor of the Ghanaian people,” he added.

Speaking on the floor of Parliament, the minority in parliament still is proudly against the modalities been submitted by the finance minister and the while New Patriotic Party as a government.

From their delivery, they have it that they are wholly pursuing the demands of the embittered Ghanaian populace.

The National Democratic Congress is poised to rally with the agenda of booting away the Momo tax widely touted as E-Levy.

The pain of Ghanaians and the plight of the poor in the country is our core mandate, the burden on their head is our paramount importance, should the NPP and finance minister comply on the 2022 budget respectively.
