The recent circulating news that has sparked massive stir, debates and arguments across all social media platforms was when the Electoral Commission was unexpectedly ‘exposed me over creation of the Guan Constituency as they Speaker of parliament, Alban Bagbin also demanded clarity from the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Jean Mensah.
Speaking in a recent meeting in parliament, the speaker of the house, Alban Bagbin took the privilege to demand clarity from the Electoral Commission after the Commission was undoubtedly exposed over creation of the Guan constituency without the necessary permission, preparations and procedures as stipulated by law.
The 2022 financial year, the electoral commission’s budget estimate amount of Ghs 181 million as the speaker of parliament took the privilege to question the Electoral Commission over the most anticipated issue concerning the creation of the Guan constituency after the caving out of a district for residents of the enclave two centre stage.
Whilst addressing the most anticipated issue, Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin took the privilege to demanded the main implication behind the creation of the Guan constituency by the Electoral Commission of Ghana in other to make sure that, Ghanaian Citizens residing in that constituency were represented in parliament .
“It will be a new constituency because you’re also dissatisfied with the explanation; that is why you have these paragraphs in your report stating that the committee is however dissatisfied that the commission is only able to provide the exact date for the conduct of elections in the constituency”, Alban Bagbin emphatically stated.
“It means they are not going to create the Guan constituency. You can’t say that they’re going to create the Guan constituency but fur 2024 elections, were not going to create any new constituency. Meanwhile, even if you create the Guan constituency today, it’ll take effect in 2024”, Alban Bagbin emphatically revealed.
