MTN Ghana, the largest telecommunication service provider in the country is currently facing a technical challenge that has resulted in internet downtimes across the whole country.

Most MTN users who use internet services will have noticed that connection has become so slow that web pages either fail to load at all or load very slowly. Some customers have become upset over the development. Especially those who were not able to use their zone data bundle before it expired.

MTN responded to complaints online and said “Y’ello we apologize for the poor network, please note that our technicians are working fervently to revert the challenge. Any inconveniences caused are deeply regretted. Thank you”

Though connectivity is still not back to its normal speeds, it is improving as most offices have closed work for the day since it is now 5:38 pm at the time of compiling this report. This has reduced the internet demand and hence an improvement in the speed.

So if you use MTN and have noticed a slow response to loading pages and apps that require internet, it is not your device that is faulty, it is a nationwide network challenge from MTN.
