The Chiefs and people of Owirenkyiman Traditional Area in the Central Region have celebrated their Kantamanto Festival with a call for all Ghanaians to prioritize good sanitation practices.

This will not only help to reduce the disease burden on society but can contribute to environmental sustainability.

This practice has earned Kushea the enviable accolade of the neatest community in Ghana.

The well-patronized festival was also used to celebrate the 80th birthday, and 40 years of the enstoolment of the Paramount  Chief of the Owirenkyiman Traditional Area, Ehunabobrim Prah Agyensaim.

The festival of the chiefs and people of this traditional area is called Kantamanto and is characterized by a week-long of activities in the last week of the month of October.

The celebration is heralded with the momentous occasion were royalty in splendour, glamour and glitz usher people from all walks of life into the area. The Owirenkyi is one of the 34 traditional areas of the Central Region.

The festival attracted many dignitaries including the First Lady Mrs Rebecca Akufo-Addo, the Okyehene, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin, Business Mogul, sir Sam Jonah, Members of the diplomatic corps, among a host of others.

Ehunabobrim Prah Agyensaim, who has sanitation and tourism at heart said, Kushea being touted as the neatest community in Ghana is not a fluke. Still, it was achieved by dint of hard work and sacrifice in collaboration with his people.

He noted that no effort would be spared to develop and promote the tourism potential of the area to rake in more revenue for development.

The Okyehene Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panyin challenged the gathering to emulate Nana Prah Agyensaim and strive to develop their communities. He said many people forget such responsibilities expecting others to do it for them.

Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panyin indicated that such an indictment holds no place in fostering development, therefore it is incumbent on all to lend support to every effort to develop their communities.

Kushea, the Capital of  Owirenkyiman is not only noted for its neatness but also hosts arguably the biggest palace in Africa.
